French Government Dissolved by President Francois Hollande – An argument between President Francois Hollande and his Cabinet over the country’s economy has led to the French government being dissolved. After a year of zero economic growth in France, the French President’s approval ratings are in the 10-20% range.
Prime Minister Manuel Valls resigned his Socialist government after accusing the economy minster of going too far with his criticism of government policies. The resignation was accepted by Hollande and Valls was ordered to create a new government by Tuesday next week.
The EU is urging the country to get their finances together, though that pressure has been questioned by Economy Minister Arnaud Montebourg who believes the country needs, “A major change in our economy policy.” These words angered the Socialist leadership; they claim Montebourg is supposed to support the government and not give criticism.
