After attacks on an Ebola facility in Monrovia, Liberia, riot police are left with no choice but to contain 50,000 people in a Liberian slum to fight the virus and prevent it from spreading. The 50,000 person quarantine has literally been put together by barbed wire and scrap wood
Transport by airlines and shipping services have been halted to Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone; some of the worst affected countries of West Africa.
Supply shortages of food, fuel, and necessities have cause residents to protest and throw rocks at police. Many reports state the soldiers were firing live rounds and tear gas as the protesters, but the Liberian Government claims that no bullets were fired at civilians.
The CDC reports that this 5 month Ebola outbreak in West Africa has caused more deaths than all other outbreaks combined since the disease was discovered in 1976.
