Banksy arrest hoax – Did Banksy really get arrested?

Banksy Arrested – Some websites (namely the National Report) have claimed that Banksy, the infamous, unidentified street artist known by many for his controversial and inspiring works of art, has been arrested by London’s Metropolitan Police and is being held without bail for vandalism, racketeering, counterfeiting, and conspiracy charges.

The fake story alleges that Banksy’s art studio was raided by London Police and they uncovered thousands in counterfeit money and plans for future crimes of vandalism.

The story also claimed that Banksy’s identity was revealed after police recovered the ID card of 35 year old Paul Horner, a London resident born in Liverpool who they assumed to be him. A mugshot of the man who is said to be the notorious graffiti artist is posted on the page.

Banksy himself can’t be reached for comment, but according to the graffiti artist’s publicist Jo Brooks, Banksy was not arrested and the article is entirely untrue.
