Michael Phelps Gets 6 Month Suspension for DUI Arrest – 18 time Olympic champion Michael Phelps has received a 6 month suspension from USA Swimming after being arrested for driving under the influence.
This is Phelps’ second DUI, which has gotten him banned from US Swimming meets until April 6, 2015.
The USA Swimming executive director Chuck Wielgus said:
“Michael’s conduct was serious and required significant consequences. We endorse and are here to fully support his personal development actions.”
The 29 year old swimmer has been very apologetic and remorseful for his actions, tweeting:
