David Gregory steps down as Moderator of NBC’s “Meet the Press” and Quits After being Humiliated
David Gregory, Humiliated by Network Chiefs, Steps down From MTP – Thursday night David Gregory had a standoff with network chiefs about his mistreatment.
NBC President Deborah Turness, who was responsible for Gregory‘s transition off the show, was accused by Chris Wallace (video below) of mishandling the situation and letting him “twist in the wind”. Gregory was the moderator for NBC’s “Meet the Press” for the last 6 years, and and NBC employee for 20 years. Gregory turned down a farewell show.
Fox’s Chris Wallace: NBC Shouldn’t Leave David Gregory ‘Twisting in the Wind’
I leave NBC as I came – humbled and grateful. I love journalism and serving as moderator of MTP was the highest honor there is . (1 of 2)

It was apparent that Gregory‘s days were limited when the show fell to third place behind ABC’s “This Week” and CBS’s “Face the Nation” last month.
David Gregory‘s position at NBC will be filled by “Daily Rundown” host and NBC Political Director Chuck Todd.
Gregory may have a spot waiting for him at CNN; he was seen meeting with Jeff Zucker about what to do next.
Some reports have claimed that the confrontation Gregory had with the Network Chiefs was purposely instigated by him because he had heard rumors he was going to be let go.
Yesterday Deborah Turness confirmed that Chuck Todd will be replacing David Gregory on “Meet the Press” on the 7th of September.
